Altarpiece, Lincoln Cathedral. This was part of Andrew Gray's final student projects while attending the Conservation and Restoration course at Lincoln Art College. The piece had been completely covered in a bitumen type paint in the Nineteenth century as was often the case in the Victorian era (color would have been too much fun). The covering paint was removed and all surfaces were restored or conserved using traditional techniques under the careful guidance of the Surface Decoration director. This was a joint project with a fellow student.
